description The camping area at Grand Isle State Park can accommodate 55 families. It's an outstanding spot for relaxing under the stars and cooking freshly caught seafood around an open campfire. Sites with electrical and water hook-up are available, and a bathhouse provides the basic necessities for settling into the natural wonders of Grand Isle. There is a view tower, fishing pier, crabbing pier and porch. Rules Pets are not allowed in any buildings, including cabins and lodges. Please be prepared to pay the balance of your facility rental fee upon your arrival at the park. Reservations for overnight facilities are held until check-out time the day after your scheduled arrival. Early departures will be treated as cancellations. Golden Age/Golden Access Passport holders must present a valid card at check-in. Persons who rent park facilities can be held responsible for any damage done to those facilities. All park buildings are smoke free environments A maximum stay of 14 consecutive days is allowed in the park. Reservations must be made at least 1 days in advance. Please be advised that cell phones often do not work in remote areas including many park sites CANCELLATIONS Should you have any problem with your reservation, or you need to make a change, transfer, or cancel, give us a call at 1-877-CAMP-N-LA. The cancellation fee is a minimum of $10 per facility. The cancellation or transer fee is $10 per facility 15 days or more before arrival. 14 days or less before arrival, the cancellation or transfer fee is one day's usage fee. drivingDirection From New Orleans, Take Highway 90 west bound to Highway 308. On 308 cross the bayou and take a left at LA 1. Continue on Highway 1 until you come to a sign for Grand Isle. Take a right on the access road which will take you to a four-lane road. Take a left on the four-lane road which will turn back into LA 1. Follow this for about one hour to Grand Isle State Park, which is located on the east end of Grand Isle, off LA 1 on Admiral Craig Drive.

Visitors need to be aware that Grand Isle State Park is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico, and subject to heavy currents and rip currents. Water can look calm on the surface, but wind, tide, and other weather conditions can create dangerous underwater currents. Also keep in mind the native marine life, such as stingrays and jellyfish, that can injure swimmers.
